Homebound Services

Homebound

  • Volunteers deliver library materials free of charge to West Hartford residents who are temporarily or permanently confined to home because of illness, disability or advanced age.
  • Choose books (many available in large print, paperback), books-on-tape, or magazines. You can ask for specific materials or tell the volunteer what types of material you like and they will make selections for you.
  • Call to register. The volunteer will need to know your name, address, phone number and special reading needs and interests. Have your library card ready so you can read the numbers on the back. If you do not have a card or yours has expired, the volunteer can arrange to have a new one made for you.
  • Patrons may call in their requests to 860-561-6951 on Tuesdays from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m.

Nursing Homes
West Hartford nursing home staff are encouraged to use a two month loan period to borrow materials for their residents, using their own library card.
