Zombie Makeup Workshop

Grades 6-12: Get ready for Halloween with a special workshop on makeup fx from Decimated Designs! This class will cover the do's and don'ts of effects makeup, hygiene, how to get started, how pros make monsters come to life, and tricks teens can use at home to improve their makeup skills. Sign up online or by contacting the teen department at 860-561-6996.

  Changing Ways Book Launch with Local Teen Author Julia Tannenbaum

Debut author Julia Tannenbaum discusses her book, shares her story of overcoming mental illness, and talks about how writing changed her life.

New contemporary YA novel Changing Ways tells the all-too familiar story of Grace Edwards; a sixteen-year-old who spirals into mental illness and must travel the tough road to recovery with the help of friends, family, and those like her that she meets along the way.

How to Write a Novel in a Month: Getting Started with NaNoWriMo

Ages 13+: To kick off National Novel Writing Month (November 1-30) Noah Webster Library is hosting How to Write a Novel in a Month: Getting Started with NaNoWriMo on October 10 at 7PM with our municipal liaisons, Kat Seelig and Erin Chaffee. They will provide information on how to participate in NaNoWriMo, share some basic novel-writing tips, and do some Q&A. Please register here or by calling 860-561-6996. Ages 13+: Writers participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) are invited to work on their novels in a supportive environment (with plenty of outlets and writing resources) and enter to win fun NaNoWriMo prizes! Light snacks are encouraged at CWI sessions.

  Anime Daisuki Club

By popular demand, WHPL is offering an anime club just for middle school students! Come to this new monthly group to watch popular shonen and shujo anime and do fun activities like candy sushi, cosplay, manga drawing and more. Lead by our teen room assistant and anime fan, Megan.
