The library's Program Committee, which meets several times a year, develops library programs in the following categories:
Library-Produced Programs are both developed and presented by the library staff (ex. children's storytimes, book discussions, classic films).
Library-Sponsored Programs are generated by the library staff, but feature outside presenters of regional, national, or international note. These are generally programs that the library feels will "sell themselves," and are typically presented by individuals with wide name recognition. The library will publicize these high-profile programs, including program flyers, calendar listings, press mailings, and event hosting.
Library-Partnered Programs are educationally-based, non-profit programs which are selected by the library's Programming Committee, but may be developed and presented by members of the West Hartford community. The library will provide meeting space and will list affiliated programs on its monthly online calendar at no charge. Presenters are responsible for the programs, including basic publicity, room set-up/break-down, and introductions. Library staff will review content and planning to assure quality. Program contact information will be directed to the program's presenter.
Click to submit your program idea online. The library appreciates all program ideas, but please be aware that the Programming Committee receives many more ideas for programs than can possibly be used.
