TONIGHT! LECTURE: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire, 6:00PM
Dr. Jennifer Cote will present an insightful talk on the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, one of the largest industrial disasters in the history of New York City. The fire is remembered every year by human rights groups across the world that still fight for fair treatment of factory workers. The recent tragedy in Bangladesh shows us that history still tends to repeat itself.
Jennifer Cote is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Connecticut. Her research focuses on American women reformers during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. She teaches a range of American history courses and lives in West Hartford.
Please register by calling 860-561-6990, or online through the library program calendar at http://bit.ly/Z2moGV. The program will begin promptly in the library meeting room, Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street, West Hartford. Bring your ticket from the nearby Isham Garage to be validated for free parking. This program is made possible through a grant from the Thomas Kilfoil fund.
