Writers Groups

The West Hartford Public Library system sponsors three writing groups. Each group meets once a month. Come and sit in on a meeting and see if you like it! No requirements or registration necessary. No obligation. Meetings are run by volunteers. Online discussion groups have also been established for fiction writers and screenwriters who regularly attend the monthly meetings.

• Faxon Poets meet on the third Saturday of every month from 10 AM to Noon at the Faxon Branch Library of the West Hartford Public Library system. The library is located at 1073 New Britain Avenue in the Elmwood section of West Hartford. All are invited. Free.
• Connecticut Screenwriters was established in April, 2004. The group meets on the last Wednesday of every month (except Dec.) at 7 PM. Meetings are held in the Library Meeting Room, Lower Level, Noah Webster Library, 20 S. Main Street, West Hartford. Park in the Isham Garage. Objective is to provide feedback on original scripts. This group in not instructor-led; every month a new volunteer moderator is selected from the group to oversee the meeting, and to facilitate the distribution of scripts. Group is geared to those with some screenwriting experience. New attendees welcome; those individuals who attend meetings regularly, and review submitted scripts, qualify to have their own script(s) reviewed by the group. Free. • West Hartford Fiction Writers meet on the second Thursday of every month at 7 PM. Meetings are held in the Library Meeting Room, Noah Webster Library, Lower Level, 20 S. Main Street, West Hartford. Park in the Isham Garage. Objective is to provide feedback on original fiction. New volunteer moderator selected from the group each month.
