Welcome Centers can be found in all three library locations. In our Welcome Centers, you will find books in languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian, French, Polish, Portuguese and others. You will also find CDs, DVDs, tapes, and books to help you learn or improve your skills in English and preparation guides for TOEFL and the US Citizenship exam. Finally, the West Hartford Libraries offer movies in other languages with subtitles on VHS or DVD as well as magazines and newspapers in a variety of languages such as Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese and Vietnamese. You may borrow these books and other materials using a valid Connecticut library card. If you do not yet have a library card, you can get one at the public library in the town or city where you live by bringing a piece of mail with a cancelled stamp addressed to you at your current home. There is no charge for getting a library card. Once you have a card, you may borrow materials from any public library in Connecticut. Your card will also make it easier for you to use computers with access to the Internet at the West Hartford Public Libraries.
