What is it?

LibX is an extension for the Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers that gives you several easy ways to search West Hartford Library's cataog of books and other materials.

How does it work?

Once installed, LibX gives you a permanent search box for the library catalog in your browser window.  LibX also allows you to highlight any text on a web page and then right click to turn that text into a search of the library's catalog.  Additionally, when searching Amazon, Google or other websites, LibX inserts "cues" near your search results, allowing you to execute a search for that item in our catalog.

How do I get it?

Please click here to go to the download page.  Follow the insturctions for downloading and installing the toolbar.  There are also some screenshots of how to use it on the download page.

What if I don't like the toolbar?

It is easy to uninstall.  Go to the TOOLS pull down menu in your browser and choose ADD-ONS.  Find the LibX extension listed and click on it, then choose uninstall.  Restart your browser and it will be gone.

But I use Safari (or Chrome or Opera).  Can I use LibX?

Currently, LibX is only available for the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers.
