Who: Mayor’s Youth Council is a new volunteer opportunity for West Hartford students in grades 9-12.
When: Applications are due Monday, May 31. Interviews will be held in June and new members will be announced in early September 2021.
What: MYC members will meet on the third Tuesday of the month from September – May to help plan and facilitate community impact projects that improve the quality of life of West Hartford youth. They will also work with town departments and organizations to help with town wide initiatives as they arise.
Why: More than ever, teens are interested in politics, community service, and social activism. MYC is an opportunity for teens to share issues that are important to them, learn about civic engagement, and have their voices heard by West Hartford government officials.
Where: Meetings will happen in Zoom or in person at the Noah Webster Library, 20 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT.
Interested students should fill out an application and return electronically to firstname.lastname@example.org by May 31. Given the holiday closing on May 31, print copies of the application may be brought to the teen room at the Noah Webster Library on Tuesday, June 1 from 10-4:30PM.
