Curbside Service

To place a hold on library materials to pick up at one of our locations, patrons may call to place a hold or place one through the Library’s online catalog. All holds will be filled as the item becomes available and in the order in which they are placed. There is no “same-day” service.

  • All appointments for pick up must be made at the library location where you will be picking up your items during the hours that the location is staffed.
  • All items need to be returned in the library book drops, not handed to staff.
  • When your hold is ready you will receive an email from the library asking you to call to arrange an appointment for pickup. If you do not have an email address, you will receive a notification by mail.
  • You will be given a 15 minute time slot to come and pick up your material.
  • Park in a designated spot marked with an orange cone near the S. Main St. entrance at NWL or near the main entrances at each branch.
  • Your items, labeled with your name, will be waiting for you on a table near the entrance.
  • Individuals with a handicapped parking permit may park in designated spaces and call the location specific phone numbers listed above for staff assistance.

Browsing Appointments

All three of our locations are available for 30-minute browsing appointments on the days listed in the chart above. All visitors must wear a mask when visiting the libraries. We ask that patrons book their appointments ahead of time. Walk-ins are welcome if there is availability. Browsing appointments are 30 minutes long beginning at quarter past the hour. The Children's Room is available by appointment for families for 30 minutes of browsing. Based on attendance at any one time, adults without children may be allowed to enter. Please call the Children's Department at 860-561-6980 to schedule an appointment.

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • For the health and safety of patrons and staff, children under the age of two who cannot wear a mask must be kept in a stroller or carrier at all times during a library visit. Children ages two and older must wear a mask at all times.
  • At this time the play areas, toys, programming rooms and computers are not available.
  • Visitors are expected to maintain social distancing through the use of floor markers.
  • Strollers cannot be stored in the lobby or hallways at this time. You may bring your stroller into the Children’s Room.
  • The snack area in the lobby of the lower level is unavailable at this time.
  • Children’s holds are currently being kept on the Main Level. Please see library staff to pick-up your hold.
  • The one-way entrance to the Children’s Room will be the door off the lower level lobby. The one-way exit will be the door by the water fountain.

  • The Teen Room is available for browsing. However, due to its size, only 2 patrons will be allowed in at the same time. Library staff will be happy to get books for you.
  • The computers and games in the Teen Room are not available at this time.

Computer Appointments

As part of our phased reopening plan, you can sign up to use a computer at Noah Webster Library and Faxon. Preference is given to those with appointments but walk-ins are welcome for the amount of time remaining in an appointment slot if there a computer is available.

Appointments are 45 minutes and start on the hour. To make an appointment, call these numbers:

  • All visitors must wear a mask when visiting the library and enter from the Blue Back Square entrance.
  • All appointments are 45 minutes long. Please arrive on time. If you are late, we cannot extend your computer time.
  • You must have a valid library card in our system to schedule an appointment.
  • You may only make one appointment at a time. Spots are limited to one appointment per day.
  • A staff member will be available to provide basic remote assistance.
  • Computers are spaced out far enough to ensure social distancing.
  • When making the appointment, please let us know of any specific computer software needs you have. An accessible workstation is available by appointment.
  • If you would like to print something during your visit, you will need to put money on your account.
  • To upload a file now to print out during your visit, click HERE.
  • Library staff will swap out and clean keyboards and mice after each session.
  • You may use our self-service copier and fax machine during your visit. The copier accepts change and bills no larger than $5.
  • You may connect to our WiFi with other devices while visiting.
